Puppet thought brings power and intention to two of the most important puppet actions -- seeing and hearing. Nothing is more basic to the storytelling of puppet play than the minute spaces of time and response associated with sight and sound. And often, it is within the perimeter of these moments that the best puppet manipulation occurs. For a good puppet is never at a loss for what it is hearing and seeing. These are the moments that set up all other puppet actions in the play. Attention to sight and hearing are the true through-line upon which the script is written.
